TFCG’s Environmental Education Programme

Communicating the extraordinary nature of Tanzania’s forests, the threats that they face and the actions that we can all take to conserve them is at the heart of our Environmental Education programme. We believe that understanding is the first step towards caring and acting.

The eco-school movement Eco-schools are a global initiative supporting students to engage with their environment. TFCG is the eco-school partner for Tanzania. Eco-schools combine learning with action, promoting environmental transformation in schools and communities.

Eco-schools in Tanzania TFCG has supported 165 rural schools to practice the eco-school approach. Of these, 48 schools have been awarded the International Green Flag, demonstrating that they have successfully completed the seven step Eco-School Programme. TFCG’s support has included teacher training, training of trainers, development of teaching materials and awareness raising for politicians and other decision-makers. The initiative is gaining momentum in Tanzania with local government and other NGOs now promoting the approach.
